Snow in the Desert

We got snow. This happens occasionally. When it does, it’s really awesome. Over the past few days, we’ve had a lot of (much needed) rain in the desert. The temperature dropped enough to create a tiny bit of snow where I live, which is very unusual. My kids went nuts.

I’m currently living in my guest house under quarantine because I got the Rona. It hasn’t been bad for me, thankfully. Because of this, I can’t do much. Obviously, I can’t be around people. The only thing I can really do is take solo rides in my truck to maintain sanity.

Today, I took a drive North to Desert Mountain to check out the snow at a slightly higher elevation. There was quite a bit of accumulation on the ground and it was still coming down. There’s something magical about seeing the desert covered in snow. It’s just not supposed to happen.

Here’s a little video I shot (I muted the audio because you probably don’t want to hear my radio).

A lot of people had the same idea, pulling over on the side of the road making snowballs and having a good time. I even saw a purple G-Wagon and a yellow Hummer next to each other. Go figure.

Anyway, it was nice lunch break outing.
